What is new?

Two new security settings are coming to Microsoft Teams. Meeting organisers will soon have the ability to enable and disable a single attendee or all attendee’s video before or during a Microsoft Teams meeting. If a meeting organiser disables an attendee’s video feed, the video icon will appear greyed out. Currently, any attendee can turn their video on during a meeting. This update will be available in both the Microsoft Teams desktop and mobile apps and is expected to be launched in April.

What are the benefits?

This feature update means that organisers will have greater control over what content is shown in their meetings. The ability to enable and disable video feeds also addresses security and compliance issues, especially for larger meetings. Combined with the ability the disable chat, disabling attendees video means that organisers can have peace of mind that their meetings will run smoothly as the chance of disruptions is decreased.
